Needles Cactus Commuter (NCC) Program Launches To Help Residents Reach Critical Services | All Travel Bookings

The Needles Cactus Commuter (NCC) Program is now available to help eligible low-income Needles-area residents travel to the High Desert for essential medical appointments and court-mandated appearances through a mileage reimbursement model. Designed to reduce the burden of distance and cost, the program allows participants to drive themselves or have a trusted friend or loved one provide the ride and receive reimbursement for eligible miles traveled.

“The NCC Program was created to address a long-standing challenge for Needles’ residents: accessing specialists, dialysis and oncology treatments, and required court services that are often located far from home. By reimbursing up to 1,100 miles per month for approved trips, the program provides practical, dignified support so residents can keep the appointments they cannot afford to miss,” according to a press release.

The NCC Program is delivered through a partnership between the Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA), San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA), and the City of Needles, CA.

“Programs like the Needles Cactus Commuter reflect what public transportation is truly about, connecting people to what matters most in their lives,” Liz Becerra, Chair of the VVTA Board of Directors, said. “We are proud to partner with the City of Needles and SBCTA to deliver a solution that directly supports residents facing real challenges and ensures they can reach critical services in the High Desert.”
